Second team - Dudley Kingswinford 2nds  0 - 10 Old Halesonians 2nds

Within the first two minutes of the game Old Hales were on the attack; Jay Reid broke through the DK defence on the halfway line and sprinted towards the line. An ankle tap by the cover defence stopped Reid five metres from the line. From the ensuing scramble to turn over the ball DK were penalised. Old Hales second row Louis Madican reacted quickly; took the tap penalty and forced his way over the try line to score. Following the unconverted try Jay Reid left the field with an ankle injury.

Old Hales had the edge in the set pieces and their forwards made some strong runs during the first half, particularly Kieron Haynes, Jay Martin and Mike Topping but the DK defence held firm. There were no further scores in the first half and so the half finished 5-0 to Old Hales.

Old Hales backs started the second half with some excellent interplay. From a scrum deep in the Old Hales half the ball was moved to the left. Luke Fenton made a well timed pass to Andy Holloway who made his way into the DK half before making a lovely offload to fullback Alex Herbert, joining the line at speed. On the DK 22 metre line Herbert passed to left wing Jake Shellis who outpaced the DK defence to score. The conversion was unsuccessful so the score was 10-0 to Old Hales.

The remaining 30 minutes of the second half was a hard fought battle with both teams testing each others defence. Old Hales line speed in defence was impressive and thwarted DK’s attacking moves.

Towards the end of the game DK attacked the Old Hales line but time ran out for them and the whistle went for a final score of 10-0 to Old Hales.
