For a change the weather was not too bad and Rowington hosted Wnchcombe for their first game in three weeks, and after losing the toss the R's were obviously inserted into bat on what should be a damp track due to the such inclement weather of late!
The track actually gave nothing for the Winchcombe bowlers and the R's openers Scott Rogers and Alex Smith soon found their stride and boundaries started to flow.
Ashton and Casey were trying their best but with little assistance saw Rowington move to 41 when Rogers chopped on off Ashton for 22 and the Wincers are in their way.
In comes Joe Kelly who quickly aids Smith in getting to 69 when Smith needlessly runs Kelly out for 11, a disgruntled Kelly trudges off to be replaced by the out of form Joe Turrell who was desperate for runs.
Turrell was in no mood to hang around and punished all of the many bad balls and, with Smith, moved towards the ton, reaching 94 when Smith, looking tired and thirsty, got bowled for 38 by Clayton.
Debutant Callum Walker joins Turrell and with an array of shots straight out of the 20/20 manual helped Turrell up to the 150 and Turrell passes 50, Walker soon joins him as he passes his 50 and these two turn up the gas and punish all the remaining Wincers bowlers moving Rowington to 246 off their allotted 45 overs,
Turrell a great knock of 83 not out and debut boy Walker a very entertaining 69 not out.

Ashton 1 - 35
Clayton 1 - 47

The only Wincers bowlers to take a wicket.
A lovely sit down tea was enjoyed by all and then the R's took to the field.
In came Chattell and Roscoe for Winchcombe and R's opener Steve Jay started with a maiden, unfortunately other opener Skipper Sam Turrell didn't and Chattell took a liking to his bowling with Winchcombe moving to 38 off the first 4 overs with Jay yet to concede a run!!
The pitch again not doing much for the bowlers and with the wind blowing across the ground Jay gets a 6 - 3 leg side field to counteRact the constant leg sided shots, particularly from Chattell who is motoring along.
The field change immediately brings a result as Jay gets Chattell to lob one up to Sam Lange who drops it, blaming the sunshine!, Jay is fuming!
Lange redeems himself by bowling Roscoe for 19 and Winchcombe are 73 - 1 off 16 overs.
Jay bowls his last over again at Chattell and sees his last ball edged to Walker at  gully who gets a hand to it but again the R's drop it and Jay finishes pot-less, Chattell passes his 50!
Scott Rogers replaces Jay and Lange then bowls Mitchell for 2, 85 - 2.
Major marches in and gets his leg in tHe way of a straight one from Rogers and hE gets the finger for a duck, 86 - 3.
Miekle then helps Chattell to get to 129 when Meikle (28) fends off a sharp one from Joe Turrell and Tommy Williams takes an easy catch, 129 - 4.
Clayton joins a tiring Chattell and they get to 149 when Turrell entices Chattell with a nice short long hop and he pulls it straight to the diving Walker in the deep who takes the catch inches off the ground and the danger-man has gone for 75, (leg side) runs! 149 - 5.
Rogers then bowls Clayton for 13, 152 - 6 and Ashton joins Casey at the crease.
Casey starts to steam ahead and with Ashton assisting they push to 172 when Rogers manages to clean bowl Casey (13) and the Wincers are 7 down.
Ashton then tries to pull a short one from Joe Turrell to the boundary only for brother Sam to dive low to his right to take another stunning catch and Ashton goes for 5 and Winchcombe are in trouble at 177 - 8 and they only have 10 players so one more wicket will clinche it for Rowington.
In comes Albert to join Seckendorf and although Seckendorf adds a boundary its all to no avail as Callum Walker bowls him the next ball and he goes for 4, Winchcombe are all out for 183 and Rowington have 22 points in the bag!

Jay            10    3    32    0
S Turrell      5    0    34    0
Lange         7    0    27    2
Rogers       9    0    44    3
J Turrell      5    0    34    3
Walker        1    0    4    1

Rowington making hard work of this, a big total but Winchcombe were on the run rate, Chattell being dropped twice helped the Wincers but for him they would have really struggled to reach a ton. Despite three dropped catches some of the ones taken were absolutely superb and so they even themselves out in the end.
Its the return match next week as the R's travel to Winchcombe.
