The first round of the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League Bernard Finnegan Cup saw an amazing scoreline at St Peters where the home team beat Hornets Reserves 8-5.

Lee Ruff and Ed Jukes both scored twice for the Saints with Nick Banks hitting a hat-trick for Hornets. Elsewhere Andy Harvey cracked a treble for Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves who crushed The Bell @ St Johns 6-0 and Shaun Caines was another hat-trick man for the Eagles A team who went through 6-5 after extra time against The Bell @ Pensax Reserves, Chris Whitehouse netting four times for the Bell. Whitehall reachedthe next round with a 4-0 win at Westside, Terry Gorman and Lewis Baker both scoring twice. Chris Miles and Mark Haynes both bagged a brace for Drakes Broughton Rangers who had a narrow 5-4 victory over Worcester Rileys. Other doubles came from Russ Carlin of Old Vigornians who lost 5-3 at home to Droitwich RBL and Chris Waldron as GDL Athletic A won 5-1 at Trinity Sports.

In the Katherine Rayer Cup, Upton Snodsbury hammered Hallow 7-0, Justin Ballinger netting four times and Ash Millard notching a hat-trick. Other trebles were recorded by Alex Baird of WCT Raiders who thrashed Powick 9-0 and Ricky Buckland in Malvern Radar’s 5-1 victory over The Bell @ Pensax. Worcester Lynx had an excellent 5-4 success at Worcester Saints, Nathan Grogan bagging two for the Saints.

The first round of the Southam Trophy saw Metro crush VBL Sports 9-1, Neil Grubb netting four times and Paul Jones adding a brace.

In the Saturday Division, leaders WCT Raiders had a comfortable 5-0 win against Malvern Hills, Chris Newman and Tom Hobbs both notching doubles. Arrow 2000 goal machine George Martin found the net eight times as his side demolished Worcester Anchors 10-3. Martin added a further three goals for AFC Heenans in the Sunday Premier Division as they eased past Colwall St James 8-3, John Pykett hitting a hat-trick for Colwall. New Inn put twelve past a plucky young Martley side without reply, Jon Mann, Jamie Lambert and Duncan Edwards all grabbing hat-tricks. Daniel Harding-Hall went one better, finding the net four times as Arrow 2000 beat Callow End 6-2.

In Division One there were two goals each for Simon Busby of Goodrest Juniors who beat Hallow Village 3-2 and Mark Bennett in CMB Sports 2-1 win against Kempsey.

There were hat-tricks for Lee and Dean Barmby of Hangover who thumped Cutnall Green 9-2 in Division 3, Will Horton as Division 4 leaders Pillar of Salt Korono won 6-1 at Talbot and Ryan Mapp in Hallow Reserves 3-1 success at Spa gas in Division 5.
