Old Leamingtonians Ladies extended their run at the top of the table this weekend, beating  Rugby Lionesses 84 - 0 in front of a large home crowd.

It was sponsors day at the Crofts, and it wasn’t long before Yoli Sempere gave them something to cheer about. She was first to touch down under the posts, and this try was followed just two minutes later by another from full back Phoebe Howles.

Next was the forwards’ turn to score, with flanker Jen Vermeulen bagging her first of the afternoon which was converted by centre Sarah Munday.  She repeated the feat minutes later, grabbing her second which was once again converted by Munday.

Tasha Barnes was the next scorer for Old Leams, using her pace to break through the Rugby defensive line and away up the pitch. This was swiftly followed by Jen Vermeulen completing her hat trick, and winger Liz Kennedy getting a try.

Tasha Barnes then scored two in quick succession to complete a first half hat trick and take Old Leams into half time with a 60 - 0 lead.

Rugby Lionesses came back stronger after the break, forcing Old Leams to dig deep and defend with some strong performances from everyone, especially Aimee Dymek and ‘forward of the match’ Kacie Walker.  However, Old Leams were soon back in the opposition half and Tasha Barnes was scoring once again, getting another three tries to get her second hat trick of the game and a richly deserved ‘back of the match’ award. The afternoon was rounded off with a try for Captain Caz Spence, leaving Old Leams in top spot and ready for their clash with second place Olney next week.
