The new month arrived with some typical Autumn weather, with rain jackets and umbrellas the order of the day. Hopefully everyone is dried off after a very wet morning throughout the region.

Under 18's Division

Crowle Searchers Harriers suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Welford Juniors; Russell and Lowbridge getting the Harriers goals.

Under 16 Pool A

Droitwich Spa Town  earned their first 3 points of the season with a 4-2 win over Wychbold Juniors and move up two places in the table. Wychbold started the stronger of the two sides, with some smooth passing moves, Towler and Sargent combining well in the box to put the visitors in the lead on just 10-minutes. The home side got the scores level on 23m, when Webster broke down the right hand side and crossed in for Alastair Pinfield to head in the equaliser. The home side then converted a penalty five minutes before the break though Joseph Goss. Wychbold kept pressing in the second half, Town's Keeper Simon Brownlee making some great saves and controlled the defensive unit. Droitwich nearly extended their lead when Hunt had a shot from the left side of Wychbold's penalty box, however Harrison Wagstaff made the save of the match.  Wychbold's determination was rewarded with an equaliser of their own on 63m, Dan Hanson slotting the ball into the home net. Droitwich restored the lead on 73m, when outfield 'GK' Bubba K struck from outside the box and the gap was extended when Callum Ford made it 4-2 to Spa.  Thanks to Mark Roberts for such a comprehensive match report.

Under 16 Pool B

It was a half-time stalemate between Lenches and Bromsgrove Meadows but the 2nd half brought six goals as Lenches ran out 5-1 victors. Leo Fleming's 4-goals and one from James Elwell put the home side in control, Harry Crane got the Meadows goal.

Nunnery Wood Kestrels got their 1st win of the season in a somewhat surprising 2-0 return over previously undefeated Eckington Juniors. Aaron Hopkins and Kieron Robinson hitting the target for Kestrels.

Under 15 Pool A

Meadow Park put their 1st points on the board with a 2-0 win over West Hagley on the excellently maintained pitch at Harris Brush Works; Milton Bowers and Harry Tudge striking the goals.

Welford Juniors' Robert Singer struck two goals but opponents Shipston Excelsior went on to win the match 3-2 to maintain their early season form.

Under 15 Pool B

Ilmington United pushed top of the table Badsey Rangers all the way, but Rangers held on for a 3-2 victory. Eldridge and White hit the away net with accuracy.

Alcester Town Juniors unbeaten start to the season was brought to a halt by a tenacious performance from Pershore Town Bullets. With both teams missing key players, the encounter between these closely matched teams was decided by three identical set pieces. In an even first half of few chances, Alcester dominated possession and might have taken the lead on the stroke of half-time but found the net from a marginally offside position. Pershore’s best chance of the half came when Harvey Brand went past three defenders but fired wide with just the keeper to beat. The visitors looked much more dangerous after the break and the pressure paid off with three well-worked corners leading to three goals, all from the right taken by Elliot Yates and all from headers. The first was headed home after 58 minutes by Harry Wilcox at the back post and he repeated the feat with a carbon copy 15 minutes later. Alcester thought they had pulled one back but the ball hit the bar and bounced down without crossing the line. Pershore sealed their second away win just before the final whistle when Harvey Brand headed home from another fine corner kick to deservedly secure all three points for the visitors and end Alcester’s 100% record. Thanks to David Wiggins for another comprehensive match report.

Under 14 Pool A

Newtown Sports Juniors kept up their perfect start to the season with a 3-0 win at home to Eckington Juniors. Three different scorers in this one - Blannin, Laycock and Macey.

Ilmington United are the other form team in this Pool and they too kept their 100% record with a 2-0 win at Welland Junior Lions. The long trip was rewarded with goals from Zak Cooper and Ryan Kilminster.

Moreton Rangers got their 1st win of the campaign with a narrow 1-0 over Stratford Town Colts; Henry Smyth with the decisive strike.

Lenches celebrated two hat-tricks from McPherson and Taylor in their latest win at Church Lench.

The early signs indicate that Pool A is very even,  with many of the matches being extremely close, so no clear favourites as yet!

Henry Bell opened the scoring for Evesham with a poachers goal from close range, Pershore hit straight back with 3 of their own to lead 1-3 at the break. To Evesham's credit they turned it on early after the interval and hit back themselves to take a 4-3 lead with another brace from Luke Holme and an effort from Reagan Martin finding the net. The game then opened right up with Pershore finding an equaliser before Henry Bell slotted home the winner for the home side.

Next week sees the commencement of our cup competitions but with a few sides receiving a bye, we would encourage any team without a cup game to consider bringing forward a league game (opponents availability permitting) to ease the expected winter weather postponements that we struggle with each season. If you do bring a match forward, please ensure that you notify Dave Hyde prior to the game taking place.
