Week 5 of the fixtures saw the opening rounds of this seasons AEFL cup competitions.

Droitwich Spa Cobras progressed into round 2 at the expense of Welford Juniors. After a tight first half that saw the Cobras lead 1-0, the 2nd half opened up and Droitwich gained confidence on the ball and their efforts were rewarded with three further goals, two of which were fantastic headers.

Evesham United Colts won 3-0 away at Bidford Juniors, while Pershore Town were another team to win away as they knocked out Welland Junior Colts 4-3 in an entertaining match at Hanley Castle, with the Pershore goals coming from Max Ferriday (2), Lewis Payne and Connor Gilchrist.

Tewkesbury Town Colts marched into round 2 with a 5-0 win at Westbury Celtic Warriors while it took a penalty shootout to decide the winners of the Drakes Broughton Rangers v Sheppey Swifts tie. With the teams at 2-2 at full-time the game entered extra-time and still the game couldn't be separated as it ended 3-3 so on to penalties, where Sheppey Swifts edged the game 8-7 to move into the next round.

Under 15's Cup

Evesham United Colts move into round 2 thanks to 4-goals each from Will McGarr and Edward Whittaker. Also hitting 8-goals were Welford Juniors and Tewkesbury Town Pumas who also progress along with Welland Junior Lions, Malvern Town Wanderers, Drakes Broughton Rangers and Sheppey Swifts.


Under 14's Cup

Alcester Town moved into the next round with Joshua Carr hitting the net 6-timees.

Under 13's Cup

There were home wins for Shipston Excelsior and Welland Junior Lions while away wins went the way of Alcester Town Juniors, Lenches FC and Welford Juniors, with Oliver Burdett of Welford bagging a hat-trick.

Under 12's Cup

Match of the Day in this age group was surely the Alcester Town Juniors v Droitwich Spa Vipers game. Ace marksman Luca Rosso got two goals for the Vipors but Alcester replied with two goals from Oscar Gristenthwaite and Samuel Long to take the game 3-2 after extra-time.

Tewkesbury Town Colts kept their cup dreams alive with a hard fought 3-2 home win over Warndon Villages Dragons. The Colts goals coming from Finlay Hulse (2) and Louis Corless.

Moreton Rangers hit five without reply with their goals coming from Jordi Colome (2), Alfie Newton, Felix Thornton and Henry Smyth.

There were also victories for Eckington Juniors, Shipston Excelsior, Welford Juniors Pumas and Droitwich Spa Scorpions who all go progress to the last 16 teams.

Under 11's Cup

There was a terrific hat-trick for Ned Harvey of Crowle Searchers but with the game tied at 4-4 against Sheppey Swifts it was Sheppey who triumphed 5-4 on penalties.

 Welford Juniors progressed with goals from Josh Hands (2), Matthew Kruger Ned Fotheringhame and  George Gittus.

Claverdon moved into the next round as Jamie Spiers hit 4 of his teams goals with Tom Bromwich picking up a well deserved POTM award.

Alcester Town Juniors won with three goals from Liam York and one from Punia Rohan.

Badsey Rangers, Ilmington United, Shipston Excelsior and Broadway United Youth also gained victories to go into the next round but unfortunately none of these teams have provided detailed match information via our reporting software.
