Saturday 23rd April: Plenty of excitement

The past week has seen a few teams confirm honours.

Under 18 Cup Final

Crowle Searchers Crusaders are the new U18 Cup winners after they won 2-1 against pre-match favourites, Wychbold Juniors. Two well taken goals from James Jones made it a shock victory for the Crusaders as this was the 1st defeat of the season for Wychbold who had gone into the game with a remarkable 14-game unbeaten run.

Under 18's Division

Cookley Sports won 9-3 away at Welford Juniors in a match full of goal mouth action. Jordan Ross and Dan Taylor were among the scorers with 2-goals each.

Under 16 Pool A

Goals from Tyrell Gerald and Benjamin Thomas brought 3-points for Inkberrow Eagles in a 2-1 victory over Welland Junior Lions. This win moves the Eagles to joint-top of the table with Welford Juniors.

Under 15 Pool A

Droitwich Spa Pumas lost 6-3 at Alcester Town Juniors, James Webster got two of the Pumas goals.

It was a frustrating morning at Shipston Excelsior as with the home team and match referee in attendance, opponents Eckington Juniors failed to turn up!  Eventually it was found that illness in the Eckington camp had caused the cancellation but this appears not to have been communicated with sufficient notice to the hosts or the referee. With other games on the morning being without an allocated referee, had the league & FA been advised, then the match official could have been reallocated onto another game!

Under 15 Pool B

Lucas Edmonds was in clinical form as his 5-goals led Droitwich Spa Tigers to a convincing victory.

Lenches drew 1-1 at Evesham United Colts thanks to a Joshua Smith goal.

Under 14 Division

Welford Juniors won 3-0 at Pershore Town Bullets with goals from Rob Singer, Mikey Dyde and Ollie Burdett. This was the 1st of a double-header and in the 'return' game, Welford won again as Ollie Burdett hit another 4-goals to take his season's tally to 35 so far.

Under 13 Pool A

Lenches FC won 6-1 at Badsey Rangers, Samuel Vaughan with a hat-trick. This was a successful week for Lenches who had also recorded a 1-0 midweek win at home to Eckington Juniors Ospreys.

Ilmington United held out for a 3-2 win at Tewkesbury Town Colts with Cronshaw, Taylor and Weston on the mark for United.

Newtown Sports Juniors maintained their lead at the top with a 5-0 midweek win at Bidford Juniors, Laycock and Blannin weighing in with two goals a-piece.

Under 13 Pool B

Welland Junior Lions 4-0 win at home to Campden Town lifts them up to 3rd place, William Hughes got a hat-trick for the Lions.

Under 13 Pool C

Westbury Celtic Youth need one win from their remaining 3 matches to claim the Pool C title. Their latest victory was a 3-0 win at fellow promotion contenders Warndon Villages Dragons, Evan Ward (2) and Taylor Coleman on target for Celtic.

Under 12 Cup Final

Stratford Town Colts Tornados lifted the cup with a 3-0 win over Alcester Town Juniors.

Under 12 Pool B

Congratulations go to Oakenshaw Lions who claimed the title with a convincing win at Leigh & Bransford Badgers Palace. Harry Bradley's hat-trick was the pick of the Lions scorers and the Redditch based side will o doubt be looking forward to testing themselves in the top tier next season.

Under 12 Pool C

The midweek local derby between Inkberrow Falcons and Inkberrow Eagles went the way of the Falcons with Jack Murphy and Nathan Harrison-Wells claiming two goals each.

Important News

With only 4-weeks of the season remaining (the league MUST finish by the end of May) there are still a lot of outstanding matches to play, especially in our Under 18 and Under 14 Divisions.

Our Full-Time system has put many of these outstanding games into June but this is only for the benefit of our data system, those teams showing scheduled matches in June MUST play these games before the end of May. It is up to both teams to agree a suitable midweek date and advise our Fixture Secretary, Dave Hyde in advance. If a date cannot be agreed by the teams involved, then the League will decide on a date.
