Saturday 30th April:              big month of football

As the season enters the final 4-weeks of the season, there is still plenty of football action to be found around the Ambassador Evesham Football League.

Under 18's Division

Newly crowned cup winners, Crowle Searchers Crusaders, returned to league action with the hope of having a final push for the title against fellow contenders Broadway United Youth. Sam Tuft got the Crusaders off to a flyer with a goal on just 4-minutes but despite a further 2nd half goal from Henry Steade, Broadway kept their unbeaten record intact with a 3-2 win that puts them level on points with the Crusaders, but with three games in hand.

At Cookley Sports, the home side caused a major shock as they inflicted a 1st league defeat on Wychbold Juniors, winning 2-1 with goals from Adam Dunn and William Pearson. This result leaves the title race wide open, with many teams still having six, seven or even eight matches still to play in the remaining four weeks of the season.  Many of the teams with a backlog have still not arranged midweek games, so the League wishes to remind teams that the season will not be extended, matches MUST be completed by the end of May, so please talk to your opponents to arrange suitable midweek dates.

Pershore Town have the biggest fixture backlog with 8 games still to play. There latest run-out saw a 4-2 defeat at Droitwich Spa Cobras, with Lewis Payne and Oliver Yeates getting the Town goals.

Under 16 Pool A

The battle for the title continued as both Inkberrow Eagles and Welford Juniors won their latest matches to take them up to 25-points each. The Eagles had a fine 3-1 win at 3rd placed Evesham United Colts, Jack Nicholls (2) and Tyrell Gerald (1) on the scoresheet.

Under 16 Pool B

Malvern Town Wanderers finished their season with a 1-0 win at home to Tewkesbury Town Colts to put them on 36-points and level with Bidford Juniors at the top. However, Bidford have one match remaining so they need at least a point away at Littleton Juniors next weekend to take the title.

Under 15 Cup Final

Westbury Celtic Tigers lifted the cup with a 5-0 win against Alcester Town Juniors but unfortunately we have no other details of the match which was played at Pershore's Winstanley & Co King George 5th Stadium.
Under 15 Pool B

Leaders Droitwich Spa Tigers visited 3rd placed Lenches FC and came away with a narrow 1-0 win, courtesy of a Oliver Boyden goal. In fact Oliver completed a unique hat-trick on the morning with a goal, a caution and a POTM award!

Under 14 Division

Alcester Town won 6-1 at Littleton Juniors, James Clemons hitting a hat-trick in this one.

Joint leaders Welford Juniors may see it as two points dropped as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Shipston Excelsior, as the in form Oliver Burdett got on the scoresheet once again.

Under 13 Pool A

The big midweek game saw leaders Newtown Sports Juniors travel to 2nd placed Lenches FC and it proved to be deadlock as each team picked up a point in a 0-0 draw.

Ilmington United remain in the top four after a 3-0 victory at Bidford Juniors. Goals from Josh Angus, Alistair McCallum and Charlie Dews ensuring the 3-points.

Under 13 Pool B

Goals from Davis Payne and Matthew Simms gave Droitwich Spa Vipers a 2-0 victory over Campden Town.

Under 13 Pool C

Warndon Villages Dragons won 1-0 away at previously unbeaten Westbury Celtic Youthto narrow the gap at the top of the table.

Under 12 Pool A

Two goals from Ethan Turner and a goal from Charlie Finch weren't enough as Warndon Villages Colts lost to high flying Stratford Town Colts Tornados.

Under 12 Pool B

Oakenshaw Lions had a convincing win at Welford Juniors, among the five different goalscorers was Jake Staunton who struck a hat-trick and a 1st goal of the season for Kiegan Iles

Moreton Rangers had a rewarding trip to Ilmington United as they claimed maximum points with goals from Kian Burrows, Oliver Hedges, Louis Mutsaars and Oliver Gallagher.

Under 12 Pool C

There was plenty of action to keep the crowd entertained at Ombersely Road as Droitwich Spa Kestrels won 4-2 at home to Littleton Juniors. First half goals from Hubert Pufka and Oliver Gardner for Littleton were countered with braces from Alexander Shaw and Luke Payne for the Kestrels.

Important News

With only 4-weeks of the season remaining (the league MUST finish by the end of May) there are still a lot of outstanding matches to play, especially in our Under 18 and Under 14 Divisions.

Our Full-Time system has put many of these outstanding games into June but this is only for the benefit of our data system, those teams showing scheduled matches in June MUST play these games before the end of May. It is up to both teams to agree a suitable midweek date and advise our Fixture Secretary, Dave Hyde in advance. If a date cannot be agreed by the teams involved, then the League will decide on a date.
