Saturday 7th May: Action all the way


There's just 3-weeks remaining of the Ambassador Evesham Football League and it's great to see the sun coming out and teams enjoying their football.

Under 18's Division

Cookley Sports excellent end of season run continued as they won a double-header with Pershore Town. The 1st game saw Adam Dunn and William Pearson both hitting hat-tricks while in the 2nd match, William Pearson got another 2-goals to add to his season's tally.

Crowle Searchers Crusaders short trip to Droitwich Spa Youth was rewarding as the visitors won 5-1, with two of their goals coming in added time of the 2nd half. James Jones clinical finishing brought him two of Spa's goals.

Wychbold Juniors midweek endeavours saw a home win over Drakes Broughton Rangers, Jamie Wall and Samuel Kindness got 2-goals each.

Under 15 Pool A

Westbury Celtic Tigers claimed a league & cup double as substitute Ben Cowlishaw came off the bench to hit the all important goal in a narrow 1-0 win at Shipston Excelsior to confirm the league title for the Tigers.

Under 15 Pool B

The biggest goal action of the day came at Nunnery Wood Kestrels as the home side drew 4-4 against Bromsgrove Meadows. The hosts scored through an Oliver Twigg hat-trick and one from Kieron Robinson, while the Meadows replied with strikes from Dan Gregory, Max Hawkins, Cain Parkes and we presume Mr OG!

Under 14 Division

Goals from Thomas Oliver (2) and Jacob Webb gave Alcester Town a 3-1 win at Lenches FC.

Oliver Burdett and Michael Boyd were among the scorers in Welford Juniors latest victory however Badsey Rangers midweek win at Welford broke the home sides long unbeaten run.

Under 13 Pool A

Lenches FC are confirmed as runners-up with their 3-1 win against Ilmington United. Charlie Dews scored for United but the home side recovered with goals from Callum Taylor, Thomas Dixon and Joe Price-Ward.


Under 13 Pool B

Campden Town had a surprising 4-1 win at Droitwich Spa Scorpions, Thomas Brownlee the sole scorer for Spa.

Under 13 Pool C

Pershore Town Piranhas caused a shock as they won 3-2 against title chasing Warndon Villages Dragons. Declan Gleave and Ben Wright were on the mark for the Piranhas.

Over at Droitwich Leisure Centre, a 3-0 win by Westbury Celtic Youth (Evan Ward with a ht-trick) and the above result of Warndon Villages Dragons confirms the title for Westbury, with Warndon finishing as Runners-up.

Under 12 Pool B

Oakenshaw Lions latest win confirmed the title, a fine Filip Braczkowski hat-trick the pick of several scorers.

Evesham United Robins are favourites for 2nd place as they won at Badsey Rangers, Luke Hulme in sparkling form hitting four of his sides goals, assisting in two other goals and receiving his teams POTM award.

Moreton Rangers cemented at least 3rd place with a 5-3 win at Leigh & Bransford Badgers Palace. Toby Stevens 3-goals taking him to an impressive 31 for the season with 3 games to go.

Crowle Searchers 4-2 victory at Welford Juniors takes them into the top half of the table. Tom Bryant netting twice for Crowle.

Under 12 Pool C

Champions, Worcester Colts were held to a 2-2 draw at Inkberrow Falcons, Will Ballard and Cameron Smith getting the Colts goals.

The Runners-up spot rested on the result of the Leigh & Bransford Badgers Borough vs. Droitwich Spa Kestrels match and the match lived up to it's top billing as both sides showed their defending prowess. It was left to Luke Payne to score the deciding goal in a narrow 1-0 victory for the Kestrels that confirms 2nd place and likely promotion.

Important News

With only 3-weeks of the season remaining (the league MUST finish by the end of May) there are still matches that some teams need to arrange as a priority.

Clubs are reminded that the League AGM takes place on Friday 13th May at St. Ecgwins Club, Evesham, commencing at 8pm prompt. All member Clubs must be represented.
