Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI 154 for 10 lost to Walmley 160 for 2

A dreadful display against Walmley from what appeared to be a strong Leamington second string, with only two performances worthy of positive merit.
Leamington batted first on a belter of a wicket at Walmley. Despite losing two early wickets, they progressed well through Ollie Currill and Jimbo Williams, before Currill was run out for 35. Despite making 80, Williams failed to find support from any of Leamington's batsmen, with only Paul Lawrence reaching double figures. Paul Griffiths took 4 for 24 and Sultan Afsal 3 for 10, as Leamington collapsed to 154 All Out, with nearly 15 overs left of their innings.
This total appeared at least 150 less than required on a beautiful pitch and day for batting. So it proved as Walmley galloped towards the meagre target at almost ten runs an over. Lawrence and Jake salmon managed a single, expensive, wicket each. Thanks in the main to 69 from Lewis Harrison, Walmley moved to 160 for 1, giving them a nine wicket victory with nearly 50 overs to spare!
Even in Leamington's topsy-turvy season, this result was most unexpected and inexplicable, given a talented side on paper. Leamington hope to get back on the right track at home to Shrewsbury on Saturday.
