Division one 1st XIs, has new leaders after Colwall won a tense battle at 10th placed Belbroughton by just two wickets. Their South African star Wehan Joubert reduced the home side to 193 all out with a fine spell of bowling taking 5-46 and then Tom Coleman weighed in with 85 to set up the victory.

Colwall are top as Nomads lost for the second week running after first appearing to be well in control with Pedmore at 79-7, they allowed the home side off the ropes to end at 209 but then slid to a six run defeat having themselves been 51-5.

Colwall are on 119 points, 12 in front of Hagley who are themselves two ahead of Nomads after a fine win at Cookley. The home side had Paul Thomas’s 90 in their score of 250 but Michael Stead with 84 and James Spavin’s 75 chipped away and produced victory by four wickets with one over to spare.

Cookley remain fourth and the top four must all play in the next month as they will again in the final run in to the season in what is looking like one of the most open title races for years.

Burghill, unbeaten since the first week of the season have climbed to fifth after beating Droitwich at home and Bewdley overcame Worcester quite easily. The final match saw the division’s one remaining winless run ended as Oldswinford broke their duck, beating visiting Stourport.

Next week, Colwall entertain 4th placed Cookley and Nomads host Belbroughton, hoping to arrest their dip in form, whilst Hagley are at home to Burghill.

In Division two 1st XIs, the leaders Redditch’s run continued unabated as they swept aside the challenge of Bredon, winning by 78 runs and thus maintained a 37 points lead over Chaddesley who won at Alvechurch, still seeking their first taste of success.

Unbeaten Feckenham are breathing down Chaddesley’s necks in 3rd following their victory at Wormelow with Jamie Griffiths making 101 in his team’s 269-6, then Tom Coulson and Matt Henning combined to bowl the home side out for just 92.

Evesham are 4th by virtue of their 3rd win, at home to Lye, Coombs Wood’s skipper, Carl Whyte, made 134 and took five wickets in his side’s narrow win over Worcester Dominies who had Jon Hancock’s 92 take them near to the win but instead they slipped to 7th and finally, Bromyard won for the second time, beating Enville and have climbed over them to 8th spot in the table.

The leaders Redditch entertain Dominies next week as Chaddesley host Wormelow and Feckenham receive Bromyard.

In Division three 1st XIs, Bartestree’s lead has shrunk after crashing at home to previously 9th ranked Himbleton and Harborne won at Avoncroft.

Netherton continued their recent progress defeating Old Vigornians and Ross improved at the expense of Rushwick, leapfrogging them into the bargain.

Cleobury won at home to Kempsey but the result of the day was in the “Relegation haunted battle of Malvern” as Barnards Green’s skipper Jez Clarke made a formidable 189 at Newland, backed by Duncan Cooper with 134 as they posted an unassailable 374-3 to beat Malvern, despite Anthony Arnold’s defiant 102, by 191 runs. So Barnards Green climbed to 10th place, and Malvern are 4 points behind in 11th.

Next up Bartestree will be hoping to return to winning ways at Malvern and Harborne must test themselves at home against Barnards Green.

In Division four 1st XIs, the leaders, Martley won for a fifth time in 7 rounds, winning at Chester Road, Kidderminster thanks to father and son Jim and Alexander Basford. Jim made 64 but was outscored by young Alex who contributed 89 not out.

Martley now lead Fiveways Old Edwardians by 17 points after Bromsgrove lost at home to Himley, who were winning for the first time in 2016 and Fiveways thrashed bottom side Halesowen thanks to 6-19 from Dave Jones.

Astwood Bank are 4th beating Hanley Castle at home despite Rory Mathews fine 120 not out for the visitors and Stourport defeated Oldswinford to stay 5th as Claverley won at Shropshire rivals Alveley with Tom Grainger scoring 96 not out in reply to Will Rodenhurst’s 90 for the home side.

In a week’s time Martley visit 11th placed Oldswinford, and Fiveways host Bromsgrove in a vital match as the battle to grab second place intensifies.

In Division five 1st XIs, has new leaders as West Malvern lost at Hallow who climb from 3rd to the top of the pile after Tenbury also suffered a reverse, this time at Stourbridge.  So Hallow have 101, one more than West Malvern and 12 ahead of Tenbury. Old Elizabethans are fourth as Dave Harris took 5-22 as they thrashed last placed Enville and Barnt Green are now 5th after their third win of the season at Redditch with Harrison Moncrieffe scoring 81.

The final match at Old Hill was won by Droitwich who overhauled the home side’s 240-4 with a fine unbeaten stand between Tommy Ross who scored 74 and Ash Walton making 86.

Next week Hallow must hold off Old Elizabethans of they are to stay top as West Malvern are at home to Tenbury with the winners hoping that Hallow’s spell at the top is short-lived.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the 2nd XIs, in Division one, the leaders, Nomads beat Pedmore thanks to 87 not out scored by young all-rounder Josh Hawes and now lead second placed Stourport by 44 points after Stourport lost at home to Coombs Wood.

Bewdley beat Worcester so it is Hagley who go into 3rd place, 5 points behind Stourport, by defeating Evesham with Ben Wooldridge making 104 and Andy Shaw 97 not out.

Worcester are now 4th, 9 adrift of Hagley and Colwall have climbed to 5th, three points further back after overcoming Belbroughton at home.

The final game was between the two sides at the bottom of the table and that particular battle was won by Redditch beating winless Netherton by 7 wickets.

Nomads visit Belbroughton and Stourport are at home to Redditch next week.

In Division two, there is another change of leaders as Feckenham have now got a 10 point cushion above Bromyard after inflicting 4th placed Wormelow’s first defeat and Bromyard were beaten by Enville who climb to 5th.

Harborne are 3rd, 7 behind Bromyard after a massive win against Avoncroft who prop up the table after Oldswinford got 6 points from a defeat at Rushwick.

Lye beat Cookley to edge them out of sixth position and Burghill won their first match of the year beting Droitwich to climb above Oldswinford.

Next week the top four all meet as Feckenham must visit Bromyard and Harborne travel in the same direction to Wormelow.

In Division three 2nds, Chaddesley Corbett’s straightforward win over Alvechurch has kept their 18 point lead intact over Fiveways who had a similarly unremarkable triumph over Bartestree.

Third are Bromsgrove, 35 points adrift of the lead who had a narrower victory by just 13 runs against bottom side Kempsey.

Old Vigs beat Bredon, Dominies overcame Kidderminster and Alveley won their first match, beating Claverley with Richard Twigg scoring 92 not out and in the process they left the relegation slots at the foot of the table.

Alveley’s reward is next week’s visit of Chaddesley and Fiveways go to Bromsgrove to try and establish who Chaddesley’s main opposition for the title might be.

Division four 2nds leaders Himbleton are 32 points in front of Astwood Bank after they beat Halesowen and Astwood beat Hanley Castle.

Stourport have closed into 4th place by winning at Oldswinford, Barnards Green completed the double over Malvern and Ross beat Martley to come off the foot of the table thanks to 98 not out scored by Angus McIntyre.

Himbleton are without a match next week so Astwood Bank can close the gap with a win at Ross on Wye.

Division five 2nd XIs leaders Hallow beat West Malvern with Mark Parish claiming 5-10 in 9 overs and Tenbury thrashed Stourbridge to stay 13 points behind them in second place. Old Elizabethans beat Enville, with Angus Rees taking five wickets for six runs, and so stay third, just ahead of Barnt Green who beat Redditch.

In the other match, Droitwich’s Matt Gurr took 6-21 as Old Hill were dismissed for 97, Droitwich winning by nine wickets.

Next time, Hallow visit Old Elizabethans and Tenbury host West Malvern.

In the One team section, Division six has new leaders as Harvington beat Cutnall Green but by only 21 runs. For Harvington, Barry Clements scored 104 despite Cutnall Green’s Neil Evans talking 6 wickets for 9 runs.

Harborne lost at home to Pershore so have slipped back to second, 15 points behind but still 8 ahead of Pershore. Joint 4th are Birlingham, who beat Highley by just two runs and Romsley who won at Ombersley by three wickets.

The final match involved Hagley, who are 6th, inflicting another heavy defeat on Nomads who sit bottom of the pile after 6 rounds.

Nest week Harvington visit Harborne and Pershore entertain Ombersley.

Division seven north leaders Cookley consolidated their position with a win at home to second bottom Pedmore.

Stone beat Coombs Wood thanks to 96 not out scored by Pete Harler and Netherton have closed up to within one point of Belbroughton who are 3rd after they beat them at Romsley thanks to 111 not out from Mohammed Shoaib. Harborne beat Fiveways to complete the fixtures.

Next week Cookley play host to Belbroughton and Stone receive Harborne.

Division seven south’s top four sides march on but one suffered a first defeat as Bewdley overcame Bartestree to close the gap on them in fourth to 17 points. However, at the summit are Kidderminster, who thrashed Bromyard thanks to a big opening partnership between Joe Miszkowski and Matt Hatfield.

Level with Kidderminster, stand Ombersley Taverners after a gigantic victory against poor, 8 man, Evesham who fielded enthusiastically on a hot afternoon as 382 were piled up by their hosts but were then dismissed for just 76. For the Taverners, John Allen made 115 not out, Andy Hartley made 108 not out and Matthew Butler contributed a mere 97.

Worcester’s match with Bredon was the final tie and Worcester are keeping up the pressure on the top two, trailing by just two points, after an emphatic win in which Chris Fletcher scored 108 not out.

Next week, the top four again face the lower half sides in the table so we may expect more one sided games before they meet one another in the final two rounds of the first half to get this division sorted out!

In the Midweek Knockout Cups, we have the first finalist for the 1st XI competition after Worcester Nomads beat Bromyard on Tuesday. However, Hagley and Belbroughton were rained off that same night and so must wait until this week to see which of them will join Nomads in the final on Monday 20th June at Kidderminster.

Next week also sees the semi-finals for the 2nd XI Knock out with Nomads at home to Hagley and Bewdley entertaining Enville.
