Premier Division, Saturday, 14th. May, 2016

At the end of a match during which the advantage had repeatedly switched, the final over began with Earlswood needing 8 runs to win.

They needed just two balls.  Batting first, Leamington had set off at a brisk pace as James Cowan (94) led an opening stand of 77 in just 13 overs.  At this point Brookes returned to the attack at took out middle order with three wickets in his first over.  Richard Hanson (53) set about restoring the innings, firstly with Cowan and then James Whitfield (25), taking the score beyond 200.

The tail “wagged” and a respectably score of 249 was achieved.  Earlswood also made a good start but 73-1 from 15 overs soon became 96-6 from 23 overs.  K. Everitt (43) and Snipe (38) began the rebuild.

The fall of the 7th wicket left 80 needed from the last 11 overs, at which point Brookes returned to finish the job he had started earlier in the afternoon.
