Droitwich claimed a vital league win in a bottom of the table clash with Bedworth on Saturday.

The conditions made rugby very difficult with Droitwich initially playing to their strengths using big forwards James Thomas & Ross Midgely to drive around the fringes, this paid dividends as outside half Sean kicked well to give the Spa side territorial advantage. Good line out work by Russ Brownsaw skipper James Shewell rumble forward before No.8 Tom Richards was on hand to power over and give the home side the lead. Bedworth did come back strongly and after a series of scrums near the Droitwich line crashed over to level the scores.
The second half kicked off in the same vein with Matt Jupp running strongly for Droitwich, scrum half Steve Poke also made good ground before the visitors infringed allowing Tom Wormington the chance to put the home side back in the lead with a well struck penalty. Good running by Ryan Handley saw Dave Ingram go close before another Wormington penalty gave Droitwich breathing space. The visitors came back strongly but excellent defence, an area where Droitwich have been lacking this season, saw the score remain the same. The final period was played out in the middle of the park as the heavy ground had sapped the energy of both teams.
An important win for the young Spa side and one they must build on if they are to avoid relegation.
