Match week 15 took place on Saturday 21st December and here is a summary of the action:

Under 13's A

It was 4th v 3rd pace as Bidford Juniors hosted Eckington Juniors at the Big Meadow. Despite the inclement weather during the week, the pitch was in remarkably good condition, but with a blustery wind, both teams were going to face a challenge with the weather.

The first half was an intriguing spectacle, as Eckington had the majority of possession and mounted several fine attacking  moves. However, the Bidford defence & goalkeeper stood firm and were as solid as rock, breaking up their opponents attacking play time & time again. In fact it was Bidford who could have taken the lead, but a terrific instinctive save from the Eckington goalkeeper  kept the match goal-less at half-time.

The 2nd half became a lot more open, with more space in the middle of the park and this allowed the wide players of each team to exploit space down the flanks.  It seemed only a matter of time before the deadlock may be broken and so it proved when Bidford took the lead after a smart interchange of passing.  Eckington hit back almost immediately, when a good parry from the Bidford goalkeeper came back into the path of an Eckington player and he calmly shot into the corner of the net for the equaliser. Both teams continued to pass the ball with assured confidence and the game was end to end with some great awareness from all of the players. Midway through the 2nd half, Bidford took the lead again, after a smart turn inside the area but again Eckington came back with an immediate response down the other end, as they equalised with a low shot from 10-yards out.

Eckington had a goal disallowed for offside in the final minutes and the match finished all square at 2-2.  Both teams may feel they had chances to win the game but from a neutral observer, a draw was a fair result on the day and both camps should be congratulated on the high quality of passing and performance they displayed.

Under 13's B

Its been a good December for Broadway United as they remain unbeaten this month with two back-to-back victories moving them up to 2nd in the table.

Their latest 3-points were acquired away from home at Alcester Town Rangers, with a narrow 2-1 win, but Rangers will be pleased to have run their visitors so close and it seems only a matter of time before this Alcester side start picking up more points.

Lenches were the other team in U13B to pick up an away victory as they got their third consecutive win with a surprising 5-2 success at Evesham Colts.

Leaders, Westbury Celtic Tigers and Droitwich Tigers met for the 2nd time in a month and yet again the teams could not be separated as they fought out another draw, with the match ending 1-1. Amazingly, this was Droitwich's third consecutive draw, a rarity in youth football.

With Broadway United Youth and Westbury Celtic Tigers meeting in the 1st game back after the Christmas break on 11th January 2014, the match is sure to be a cracker!

Under 10's Pool A

Eckington Juniors won the local derby with Eckington Eagles 3-1, to keep them joint top of the table with a game in hand.

There was a major surprise at the Stratford Road Ground as hosts Alcester Town  Rangers ran out 4-2 winners over joint leaders Pershore Town.

Under 10's Pool B

Sheppey Swifts latest away win keeps them top of the table for Christmas while Tewkesbury Town Colts move up to 3rd place with victory at Stratford Town Colts.

Badsey Rangers were the only team to win at home as they recorded a 4-2 win in an entertaining match with Crowle Juniors.

Under 10's Pool C

Welford Juniors remain top of the table and unbeaten with a 3-0 away win at Tewkesbury Town Pumas.

Littleton Juniors climb to 2nd place with a narrow 1-0 success at Inkberrow Eagles.  Broadway United Youth has their first drawn game with a 2-2 score-line at Droitwich Spa.

The Ambassador Evesham Football league would like to wish all of our teams a very Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
