The fourth time this season these two sides have meet and Southam now hold the upper hand winning 3 of them but of all the wins this was the most impressive.

Playing against a strong Broadstreet side Southam nervously started against the wind and sun and allowed the home side to take control somewhat and it took only 10 minutes for them to stretch the Southam backs and score an unconverted try. Broadstreet then further stretched their lead with a penalty however Southam did have a few real concerted efforts on the B’s line but again lacked a killer edge. They were however rewarded with a penalty just before the half time that Lewis Dodds slotted over. Dodds due to an injury to fly half Jack Hewson had to then move into the fly half position and it was this that had a dramatic impact on the Southam team and the final result.

Coming out in the second half with some wholesale changes but with the elements in their favour Southam soon started to dominate all aspects of play and it wasn’t long before they stared to score with Dan Dunne racing through the B’s defence to score an unconverted try. Live wire Dodds then took a lovely break down the blind side selling two classic dummies before stretching over for a well taken try. Doods converted and Southam moved up a gear with the forwards really working well as a committed and dominant unit. Doods again from a blind side break added another converted try and would have made it three except he laid off a lovely flighted ball to Joe bagshaw who scored under the posts for a converted try by Doods again.

B’s could not answer a fully fired up Southam squad and captain Gilkes rounded off the scoring with a fine forward unconverted try .

Although he gained a personal points haul of 21 points a close man of the match award went to Johan Elkerton who did not put a foot wrong all game.
