Droitwich turned in another much improved performance to remain unbeaten in 2015. On a cold but clear day Droitwich looked workman like in the early exchanges with captain James Shewell & Ross Midgley using their bulk to take the ball to the opposition, allowing scrum half Chris Danks ample time to feel the three quarter line.

An intelligent pass by outside half Ian Young saw Sam Davenport in space, he used his pace to slice open the defence & score Droitwich’s first try, converting the effort himself. A powerful thrust by centre Mark Strutt, saw the ever alert Rob Poke make ground before winger Dan Wilkinson powered over.

The second period began in the same vein with good work by second row Russ Brown and veteran Nick Godfrey always looking dangerous. Leamington did come in to the game more but excellent defence, notably by Will Baillon, Steve Poke and the robust James Thomas kept the home line intact. Good work by Young saw Droitwich camp in the opposition ’22 with a series of scrums before Danks twisted his way over.

With the game now secure Droitwich started to tire and Leamington came back to score a deserved try. The win sees Droitwich move up a place in the league table and ease their relegation fears.
