Atherstone welcomed Old Wheats in the Their League Cup Semi Final, the game started with significant pressure from the home side, culminating in a penalty kicked By James Bagnall,

The first try of the game came from sustained pressure and good ball retention setting up a maul which was scored by Bagnall who touched down, he subsequently missed the kick,

Wheat’s came back into the game when there powerful centre crashed over for a converted try. The same player scored Wheats second try of the game which left the score at 8-12

The home side had lots of possession but were unable to score they came close having a try from Dickey Garry disallowed for being held up.

With the last play of the game from an Atherstone line out close in they set up a rolling maul, with all but 3 of the team joining in the pressure was too much for the away side and the ball was put down over the line for Bagnall’s second and match winning try, James Bagnall scoring all points, Atherstone now wait to see who they will play in the Final between Barker Butts tanners and Harbury.
