Under 16s

Banbury Under 16s travelled to Cheltenham Tigers on Sunday and recorded a thumping 61-7 victory.

Try hat-tricks from Reece Lines and George Grieve were added to by tries from William Hopkins, Jacob Turner and Aaron Taylor. Luca Catania converted 6 of Banbury’s tries, Jack Briggs another 2. Despite the score-line Cheltenham made Banbury work hard for the win, the hosts scoring a well-worked try just before half-time.

Under 14s

Banbury Under 14s travelled to Bromsgrove on Sunday, the squad numbers being depleted by half time through injury to make for a really tight game.

At half time Banbury were 20-0 up, strong winds making conversions near to impossible. In the second half, the squad had to shuffle further after losing more players, including prop Jay Manley to injury. This, plus a reverse in the slope that favoured the team in the first half, all helped Bromsgrove fight back, a dropping wind further helping them convert two of their tries. With 7 minutes to go, there was just a point in it, Banbury holding on to a hard fought 19-20 win . Try scorers were Isaac Seiger (3 tries) and Tom McDonald.

Under 13s

Banbury Under 13s faced a new challenge on Sunday when they hosted Bromsgrove RFC for the first fixture between the two sides in this age group.

The visitors came with a good reputation and provided a stern test in the A team fixture, especially up front. An early score by winger Tom Chesser was supplemented on the stroke of halt time by a solo effort from fly half Toby Parker. With the wind at their backs in the second half Banbury had the majority of possession and territory but had to settle for just two further tries through hooker Fynn Watt and winger Olly Broughton, finally running out 20-0 winners. The Under 13B team game went the way of the visitors who sneaked home 15-14 despite scores from barnstorming second row Ben Cox and successful conversions from fly half Oscar Triggs.

Mini Rugby

Under 12s

Banbury Under 12s won 34-14 away against High Wycombe on Sunday, with tries from Jake Relton (2 tries), Ellis Dancey Brock (3) and Ollie Farr. The two conversions came from Jake Relton and Dan May.

Under 11s

Banbury Under 11A beat High Wycombe 10-5 away on Sunday with tries from James Leonard and Tsering Sherpa-Moore.

Banbury U11B were also victorious by 21-0 with tries from Louis Tooth, George Verinder and Harry Oakes, 3 conversions came from the boot of Sam Church. A further pair of games with mixed sides saw William Stothard cross to snatch a 5-0 victory for Banbury in one, whilst Banbury were narrowly defeated by a single try in the other.

Under 10s

Banbury Under 10s travelled to High Wycombe on Sunday and ran out 55-0 winners.

The players were relentless and fearless in their attacks. By half time the score was 30-0, particular mention to Harvey and Joe, who ripped the ball out of ‘the big guys’ death-grip to unload to the awaiting strike force to spin the scoreboard. Tries scored by Jacob Hancock (3 tries), Callum Davies (3), Josh Joubert (2), Cameron Smith (2), Thomas Evans and Callum Brotherhood.
