Bret were always going to struggle against high flying Bath but were thrilled to welcome back both Deb Slatter and Sarah Hall to the squad, both returning from long-standing injury & they were equally grateful to Sarah Cook for playing through her pain.

This was a game where the pink defenders were going to find themselves under a lot of pressure & this indeed proved to be the case.  Some of their defending this week was nothing short of outstanding & throughout the entire team, if effort won you points, Bret would be home with all three !!

Polly Christian played on despite a nasty first half knock & both Tess Lewinton and Julie Hall put in an amazing display despite playing out of position.

Bret had somehow managed to keep the scoreline to 0 - 0 at half time but it wasnt long until Bath had them practising their short corner defending again.  The home side were reduced to trying out a new routine which had devastating results for Bret - a scorching goal that left keeper Vicky Watkins no chance and it was quickly followed by another.

Brets midfield of Lisa Workman, Danni Cox and Alice Cook kept them pushing on but it was central defender, Heather Carr who took the plaudits of player of the match with some brilliant challenges.

Bath scored another goal right on the stroke of full time to make extra sure of the points.  Bret never let their heads drop & should be well proud of this display that had the top of the table team well frustrated for long periods of this game.

As always and - despite Emma Lowe being hit by a mystery sniper in the changing rooms Bret -had a lovely time today (it says here).
