WEEKLY ROUND UP.

Whilst the league ran a reduced set of fixtures in order that Aston Villa fans could cheer their side on to this seasons FA Cup Final, Black Horse made it two cups out of two so far, as they hunt a potential five trophy haul. This time it was the WFA Premier Sunday Cup, where they took a quick 2-0 lead against Hare & Hounds. However, it did not go all their way as the Bromsgrove league side pulled a goal back direct from a free kick just before half time and then in the second half, Black Horse put through their own net as they failed to clear a ball in to their six yard box. However, as Hare & Hounds looked the more likely to create the winner, a mazy persistent run from Dale Edwards set up the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Millfield Rovers took charge in the hunt for the Division One title with a 5-1 victory over SHTP, a result which puts the Bromsgrove based side three points clear at the top of the table with four games remaining. In a tense first half SHTP had two chances to take the lead, before Kieron Waldron took advantage of some tentative defending to go in front on the half hour and Millfields added a further two more to go in three nil up at half time. When Luke James gave his team a glimmer of hope with 20 minutes to go, further indecisive defending restored the four goal advantage.

Third place Rocklands also lost ground on the top two losing to two Matty Layton goals at Alcester Town, capping a disappointing warm up for their defence of the Jim Fleeman Cup on Thursday where they face SHTP.

At the bottom of the table it was a point each as, Lodge Park RA took the lead in a four goal thriller with Mayfly. The visitors then equalised and went ahead, before a defensive misjudgement  levelled the scores.

Next Sunday sees top of the Premier Division action, as Church Hill host Black Horse in an always eagerly anticipated Redditch League Clash at Studley Sports & Social Club. Rubery Bridge head over to Kidderminster league side Darby End Athletic for a place in the Bromsgrove Charity Cup Final. Abbeydale host Bartley Green Illey Sunday for a semi-final spot in the Kidderminster Hospital Cup
