Bretforton Ladies swept aside a depleted City Of Bath side to record their second victory of a tough, tough season.

The result was made even better as they went behind in the first 5 minutes to an extraordinary opportunist goal from the visitors – lifting the ball high over everyones heads to hit the net.

Bret haven’t played since well before Christmas & it showed, they took their time to settle and looked a little nervous.  It was down to Hayley Whitehouse to come flying off the bench to level the score with a great solo effort.

The home side then moved ahead with short corner goal from Sophie Hamilton that was as simple as it was brilliant – a straight strike from the top of the D that went like a rocket !

Bret had now found their feet & rhythm & it was the captain – Tess Lewinton – who scored not only the third goal but also a classy fourth – sweetly connecting with a rebound straight off the keepers pads.

The home side certainly did not have it all their own way & the City girls refused to lie down.  They did their best to ruffle the Pink defence but the Bret girls at the back were in no mood to concede any more goals.

Whilst Bath chipped away they also hadn’t reckoned upon coming up against the Bret midfield – Lisa Workman in particular was in inspired form – her work along with Amy Pinkney & Danni Cox kept the possession for the home side with ease & kept the game ticking along perfectly.

Brets final goal may have been a little scruffy but no-one would deny that Emma Lowe more than deserved to get her name on the score sheet for pure tenacity alone.

The Pink Ladies deserved these points but did make it hard work for themselves at times. An away day in Cheltenham beckons next week and more points would be very welcome !  With thanks to their supporters & Les for umpiring as always.
