Bretforton travelled to Wiltshire as the only team to have beaten top of the table Salisbury all season & knew they would be in for a tough game.

The Vale girls quickly settled into the game & enjoyed the most possession in the first half.  Bret continually put Salisbury under pressure & they were nearly undone on a few occasions by the sheer pace of Terri Brown & Sarah Hall.  Tess Lewinton was denied several times & Bret were unlucky with their short corners - Deb Slatter and Hayley Whitehouse were both close to finding the back of the net.

Salisbury cranked up the pressure though & Bret were forced into some brave defending - Liz Murray-White in particular made a spectacular goal-line clearance.  Salisbury had their tails up now and a piercing cross into the Bret 'D' was brilliantly deflected up & over Brets keeper & joint player of the match Vicky Watkins right on the stroke of half time.

The second half saw the home side pile more pressure on Bret - Heather Carr in the right place this time to deny another goal bound effort and brave defending by captain Sarah Cook and player of the match Daisy Wheeler kept the Wiltshire side a bay.

Salisbury did double their lead & Bretforton ran out of time & simply could not respond.

A great game of hockey played in good spirit, Salisbury deserved the points & Bretforton had most certainly earned themselves a good night out Wiltshire’s capital.

Many, many thanks go to our remarkable travelling support this weekend - thank you ladies - you made a huge difference.

Next weeks game sees the girls at home against Swindon 1st XI - this promises to be another tough & physical game, come along & see how the ladies get on at 10:30 at the Evesham High School !!
