Bret battled back from certain defeat in this tough game against 4th place City Of Bath and claimed the number one spot at the top of the league – clear by one point!

Although Bret started brightly, they appeared a little out of sorts & lethargic in the first half, this led to City taking the lead through a rather scrappy goal.

Despite being awarded several short corners, Bret simply could not convert them & it nearly became worse for them but for a save from Bret keeper Vicky Watkins turning a certain short corner from Bath themselves around the post.

Bret got their mojo back in the second half despite falling further behind to a second Bath goal.

Sarah Halls incisive pace started to pay dividends and the home sides pressure told when a lovely pass from Karen Fynn found Deb Slatter in a crowded 'D', she calmly gathered the ball, swivelled & popped the ball through the Bath keepers legs to half the deficit.

This gave the Vale girls the glimpse of hope they were looking for !

The next goal was sublime, the ever tricky Tess Lewinton raced into the 'D' and cooly and unselfishly slipped the ball to Hayley Whitehouse who finished perfectly by pushing the ball past the advancing Bath ‘keeper into the corner of the goal.

A great team effort by Bret which was epitomised again today by the gazelle-like player of the match Terri Brown who never gave up hope throughout the entire match !

Bret would again like to thank their coaching staff and supporters - we truly appreciate everything you do !
