Bretfortons first game back in Premier League 2A saw them pull off a dramatic victory over title hopefuls Salisbury. The Vale girls simply stunned the visiting Wiltshire side by going three goals up in the first half.

Sophie Hamilton was first on the scoresheet when a Hayley Whitehouse strike was deflected onto Julie Hall and her strike was pounced on off the keepers pads for Hamilton to sweep into the back of the net.

Next up it was the turn of Bret new-comer, the tigerish Terri Brown, who's amazing solo run from halfway saw her cooly dump the Salisbury keeper on her backside, keep her composure and neatly slip the ball home.

Hardworking as ever, Sarah Hall and Emma Lowe kept the pressure up and Bret were in heaven when Julie Halls long corner was picked up by Daisy Wheeler to neatly slip the ball through to Tess Lewinton who casually placed the ball exactly where she wanted it into the goal.

As was alway going to happen, Salisbury fought back.  A flurry of short corners saw them pile on the pressure, the increasingly dependable Heather Carr just couldnt keep out their first goal high into the net and a brilliant strike from another short corner on the half time whistle beat everyone.

The second half started in much the same vein as the first, Hamilton this time turning provider to place a perfect pass into the Salisbury 'D' to find Lisa Workman in the right place to bravely dive and divert the ball home.

Bret continued to battle against an ever increasingly grumpy Salisbury team - captain Sarah Cooks ever timely tackles and the tenacity of Karen Fynn in defence denied the visitors time & time again.

To their merit, Salisbury never gave up & their perseverance paid off with their third goal.  With just seven minutes to go, nerves were jangling and Salisbury were still being awarded short corners but with some stoic defending though, Bret managed to hang on to pick up their first points of the season.

Bret would like to thank the umpires and also the support that they received - both were very much appreciated.
