This game had an air of inevitability about it before a ball had been struck !  With Bretforton only being able to field ten players and 3 out of their usual defence away, this was always going to be a tricky fixture.

City of Bath always attack strongly from the start & this game was no exception. Although Bret were defending like demons, the home side were soon 3 nil up & looking to score more.

If you play in pink though, you never give up & the Vale girls kept going -  it was a great ball out of defence that found Lisa Workman in midfield who drove forward, it was her perfectly timed ball that found Hayley Whitehouse who coolly smashed the ball into the corner of the Bath goal - leaving the keeper no chance.

Bret started the second half with renewed vigour and - in all honesty - probably could have got at least a draw from this game.  Constant defending by Bath and a couple of missed chances by Bret saw any points slip away.

Brets second half display however was brilliant - the score-line does not reflect it but they really had Bath rattled.  They played some good hockey & their fitness was way superior, it really was literally a case of being one player short & the girls would most certainly have won this fixture.

Big shout out to Tess Lewinton & Emma Lowe - playing massively out of position in defence & never once moaning, to Andrea Cole - dedication to the club to the absolute maximum today. Karen for travelling down & umpiring superbly - maybe next time though Karen, please wear something that differs from the teams - you were hard to spot !!!  Also - Harry & Stefan for their support also - much appreciated.

Player of the Match: Hayley Whitehouse

Plonker of the Match: Lisa Workman
