Brewers Athletic continued their relentless charge towards the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League Sunday Division 3 title by thrashing Alumni 7-1.

They have now won twelve successive matches and scored 73 goals in the process as they sweep all before them. Mike Jeffries hit a hat-trick with Ryan Schooling, John Griffiths, John Wade and Ben Harbourne also on the scoresheet. Lee Collyer netted a consolation for Alumni who are struggling to get away from the relegation area.

In Division One Powick entertained Worcester Saints on the 3G surface at Dysons Perrins School and ran out 5-1 winners. Lee Jenkins cracked a hat-trick with Dean Humphries and Sam Rathbone also on target. James Staunton replied for the Saints with both clubs probably looking at a mid-table finish.

The University of Worcester climbed out of relegation trouble in Division 2 with a 4-2 win against Hornets on their own 3G pitch. Max Kurn, Calum Pawsey, Moyo Macloud and Josh Harris all found the net for the students with Nick Banks and Tim Martin scoring for Hornets.

Droitwich Spa Eagles managed to play both fixtures on their home ground after sterling work by their ground staff and were rewarded with two victories. The Reserves beat The Bell @ St Johns 5-2 in Division 4, Matt Colley notching a treble with other strikes from James Willis and Zbigniew Smieszala. Their A team won 4-2 against GDL Athletic A in Division 5 with goals from Matt Bishop (2), Phil Brett and Damian Bonehill.

In the Saturday Phipps Cup, Malvern Vale drew 1-1 with Foregate. Josh Speight gave Vale the lead before Nathan Jones headed the Foregate equaliser.

The Bell @ Pensax are out of the WFA Sunday Junior Cup after a narrow 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Areley Kings. Damon Groves gave The Bell an early lead before strikes from Jim Handy and Doug Farley put the visitors ahead. The Bell spurned three glorious chances in the second half to regain the lead before Luke Bridgewater caught them on the break to put Areley 3-1 in front. Groves converted an 89th minute penalty but it was too late and The Bell will rue missing those three gilt edged chances which could well have put them into the semi-finals of the competition.
