Swifts got off to the dream start as a ball down the left channel was swept infield for the lively Ben Maund to slot into the net. Brocton were stunned and briefly looked all at sea, but to their credit they came back into the match and a Berks corner found its way to the far post, but no one could quite get the touch it needed.

The danger from Stourport was always present though and Calum Barrett had to be at his best shortly afterwards to push a long range shot onto the post when it looked to be curling in.

Paul McMahon, who was working hard across the front line, found space on the right and put in a cross for Dave Berks, but he was quickly closed down and the cross was blocked for a corner.

Then Joe Phillips sped clear at the heart of Brocton’s area and Brocton breathed a collective sigh of relief as he placed his shot wide of the post.

Ed Booth managed then to set McMahon free with a pass over his head and into the channel. McMahon did well to bring it down but it needed a virtually impossible instant strike as he once again was quickly closed down and the chance was gone.

A better chance fell to Berks moments later after McMahon had been tripped. Once again though time was at  premium and Berks needed too much of it as his effort was smothered.

Brocton were still in the game and beginning to gain confidence as first McMahon struck wide and then Berks and Fife combined to win a corner which was well defended..

Swifts then won a corner and showed how to capitalise with a near post header by Phillips.

Josh Wilson lost and then won back the ball and slipped it to Berks, but this time his shot, whilst quickly enough taken, lacked power. James Hill, for the visitors picked up a fortunate rebound and looked set to make Brocton pay as he strode into the area only to hit wide. The let offs couldn’t continue though as a centrally placed free kick was coolly swerved round the Brocton wall by Maund to put the game out of sight.

With Callum Rudd and Ben Farrall replacing Wilson and McMahon at half time     Brocton could now only hope to salvage some pride  and they did indeed increase the tempo, but the now rampant Swifts robbed Matt Hardiman of the ball and Calum Barrett had to save at his near post only for Phillips to latch onto the rebound and pass into the net. Hardiman played a part then in Brocton’s best move involving Berks and Fife before a great save prevented Berks from scoring. He did finally hit the back of the net moments later but there was still time for Ryan  Wollacott to make it five for the visitors.

Brocton: Calum Barrett, Charlie Jones, Matt Hardiman, Ed Booth, Matt Skinner, Matt Dockerty, Josh Wilson, Paul McMahon, Gary Fife, Dan Lomas.
