British Showjumping is pleased to announce that Chard Equestrian, a grass equestrian venue situated in the Somerset countryside, has taken the title sponsorship for the British Showjumping Somerset Junior Academy which represents the Bristol & Somerset area.

Chard Equestrian is a training venue and show ground for all equestrian disciplines and levels of horsemanship. The venue provides British Showjumping competitions at Club level all the way through to National and this year will hold eleven British Showjumping competition days. Chard Equestrian is also the home of the South Western Showjumping Club, which will hold one three day show this year.

British Showjumping has a number of Junior Academies based all over the UK and the aim is to provide progressive coaching using experienced British Showjumping Coaches. The Junior Academies combine promoting the development of riding skills and horse management with teamwork. All British Showjumping members are eligible to join the Junior Academies up until the December after their 21st birthday.

Jane Gregory, Manager at Chard Equestrian, said of the announcement “We are thrilled to be involved with the Junior Academy. It is so important for young riders, as it opens the door for them to other competitions beyond the Pony Club. We are proud to host camps every year for local pony and riding clubs and regularly hold competitions with junior classes, so this is close to our hearts.”

Anne Newbery, British Showjumping Development Officer for the South West commented “I’m delighted that Chard Equestrian is sponsoring the Junior Academy for 2015 and am looking forward to a happy and successful partnership. The academy was re-launched last year and is going from strength to strength under the guidance of lead coach Jayne Smart and coordinator Alison Tutt. The support of Chard Equestrian will give the academy a huge boost helping to provide a wider education and range of activities whilst continuing to provide regular first class training for our academy riders.”
