North Midlands Under-16s launched their season in impressive style by trouncing Staffordshire 58-5 in a non-graded match at Burntwood this evening.

Despite having only one training session North Midlands produced a cohesive and dominant display which produced ten tries including a second half hat-trick from right wing Harry Robinson (The Chase School, Worcester RFC and Worcestershire).

Lock Joe Charles (Church Stretton School, Shrewsbury RFC and Shropshire) led the way when he crossed for an unconverted try early on and North Midlands breached the home defence five more times before the break.

Left wing Luke Clarke (Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School, Hereford RFC and Herefordshire) crossed twice with number eight George Hemmingway (John Kyrle HS, Ledbury RFC and Herefordshire), flanker Zac Xiourouppa (Ellesmere College, Shrewsbury RFC and Shropshire) and prop Henry Trimmer (Old Swinford Hospital School, Stourbridge RFC and Black Country) also scoring tries.

Full-back Jacob Ham (Kings School, Worcester RFC and Worcestershire) converted three of the tries to give North Midlands a 36-5 half-time lead.

Robinson’s hat-trick and a a try from replacement wing Barron Abrahams (King Edward VI School, Sutton Coldfield RFC and Greater Birmingham) stretched North Midlands’ lead before fly-half Adam Spinner (Bishop Vesey GS, Sutton Coldfield RFC and Greater Birmingam) completed the rout by improving Robinson’s final try.

North Midlands will now a second Development Day at Bromsgrove School on October 20 followed by a match against Warwickshire at Bromsgrove RFC on November 3 (11am) as part of the first Midlands Super Sunday event.
