Moderate east north east winds greeted the ten boats that entered the ninth race in the Pursuit series at Arden Sailing Club, Defford, near Pershore on Sunday.

It was good to see novices Miranda Chance sailing a Laser Radial and Bob Jose in a Comet entering the race, even though they both only started sailing this year having completed their sail training at Arden a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the wind increased as the race began and Bob was forced to retire, but Miranda completed the course successfully coming eighth overall. Well Done Miranda.

The usual regular sailors made up the top positions with Niall Campbell and crew Jane Smee  sailing an Enterprise in first place. A very well sailed race from Malcolm Colledge in second place and David Bryden sailing his Heron in third place.

The next race saw the fleet split into two as the faster boats entered the Enterprise/ Birt Thirlow series race and the slower boats in the Commodore Cup/ Comet  series. The wind by this time had increased considerably and gave everyone an exciting race. Once again Niall and Jane took first place in the Enterprise series followed by David Stephen sailing a Laser and Simon Newman in third place in a Solo.

In the Commodore Cup first place went to David Bryden in his Heron.  David sailed a very good race reading the wind shifts to good effect. Malcolm Colledge sailed a close second in his Comet and Kevin Powell  third sailing a Mirror.
