Twelve Parishes took part in the Parish Games Petanque, which was played on the Petanque piste in Evesham on Sunday.

Parishes were initially split into two groups of 6, before then playing the team that had  finished in the same place in the other group.  Once all the games had been played,  the scores were then added together to give the final result.

Drakes Broughton won all their matches, meaning they finished in 1st place for the third year running with a maximum score of 18 and a points difference of +44.  Broadway were in second, just ahead of Hill and Moor.  Eckington were fourth, Wyre Piddle 5th and Wick 6th.  Other Parishes taking part were Honeybourne, Inkberrow, Badsey, Defford, Fladbury and Bretforton.

The sponsors, Parsonson Planning Consultancy were on hand to present the trophies to the winners and runners up.

The Cross Country, sponsored by Schloetters, takes place on Monday, with the Rounders, sponsored by Marshalls Transport takes place on Sunday 24th, both at Pershore High School.

All draw sheets for the knock-out events have now been sent out to Parish Captains, so these events will be starting shortly.

On a very hot Monday night, a record 79 runners from 15 Parishes took part in the Cross Country event, sponsored by Schloetter Co Ltd, at Pershore High School.

Although the first runner home was from North & Middle Littleton, Fladbury took the next two places.  This meant that Fladbury, with an overall score of 96, finished as winners again.  Eckington, with 125 points were again runners up, meaning the result was the same as last year.  North & Middle Littleton were 3rd, Birlingham 4th and Broadway 5th.  Other Parishes taking part were Inkberrow; Wyre Piddle; Drakes Broughton; Hill & Moor; Badsey; Sedgeberrow; Honeybourne; Bretforton; Defford and Wick.

On Sunday, the Ladies' Rounders, sponsored by Marshall's Transport, took place, again at Pershore High School.

Eight Parishes took part, and were initially split into two groups.  Parishes then played off for final placings, with Hill & Moor beating Defford to take 7th place.  Bretforton then beat Honebourne for 5th place.  Drakes Broughton and Wyre Piddle drew 3 all to share 3rd place.  The final was extremely close, with Inkberrow finally emerging as winners by half a rounder, beating Eckington into second place 8-7½.

Although many of the knock out events are now starting, there is a break before the next one-day event, which is the Bowls, sponsored by Pershore Bowls Centre, which takes place on 11th September at Bredon Bowling Club.
