Droitwich suffered their first defeat of the season against a solid Banbury RFC. Spa started the game very well leading 10-0 after ten minutes thanks to a converted Ian Conda try, which was created by the forwards and finished by the forwards.

Spa added a further three points after a Scott-Walker penalty. Spa should of added more points to the scoreboard but poor handling and decision making cost the home side. Banbury got their slice of luck when a looping pass by the outside half was intercepted for them to score under the posts, conversion was successful. Straight from the kick off Banbury were awarded a penalty to go into half time level.
Banbury continued the second half the way they finished the first after a mix up by Droitwich gave them an easy chance for a try. Spa continued to dig in however and had their fair share of chances but couldn't get the score.

Another error by Spa was pounced upon by the visitors to score in the corner, Spa now behind by 12 points. Good running by Will Bailon gave spa good field position and mounted pressure on the Banbury defence.

Banbury had a player sin binned after numerous penalties and the home side were eventually rewarded with a penalty try after enormous pressure by the spa forwards was put onto the visitors. However It all came too late with the referee blowing the whistle after.

Spa can take great credit from the result after it was their mistakes that gave Banbury the win, and Banbury will no doubt go close again this season to promotion. Veteran Nick Godfrey added after the game that the young spa side need to be more clinical and add more composure to their game. Spa travel to Spartans RFC Saturday.
