The dinghy sailors at Arden Sailing Club enjoyed a light Southerly breeze for their Sunday afternoon races this week.
The first race was one of the series in which the handicap fleet compete for the Arden Trophy. Due to the number of competing, the start was divided into two groups
The first group was dominated by the Solos of Ralph Evans and Simon Newman both of which managed to stay ahead of the Enterprise of Stuart and David Stephen but once handicaps had been calculated, the Heron of David Bryden split those Solos, taking second place to ralph Evans win.
The second race was that favourite of the seasoned sailors, the Strensham. This marathon of a race takes the dinghies all the way from Defford to Strensham lock on a good day.
The fickle wind conditions meant that every breath of wind counted and it was the Heron dinghies of David Bryden and David Yule which were successful closely followed by the Comet of Tricia Wood.
