Evesham is renowned for its festivals and events and two local clubs have joined forces to bring back an old event to the town.

Evesham Vale Triathlete Club formed in 2011 and Tewkesbury Triathlon Club formed in 1990 Gloucestershire’s original triathlon club have seen interest in open water swimming soar since the 2012 Olympics decided the time was right to bring back an event last seen in Evesham in the 1930’s.

On Saturday 5th July the Evesham Mile ‘Bridge to Bridge’ River Swim will see swimmers take to the water to battle it out for first place. Swimmers will be competing for a Bell Tower Award and trophies will be awarded to the fastest lady and fastest gentleman.  Both clubs thought this was an iconic event to bring back to the town and decided to organise it to benefit a local charity and chose Evesham’s own Iconic Bell Tower to gain financially and will be donating profits from the race.

The fun will start at 4pm at Evesham Rowing Club with swimmers warming up and taking to the water in preparation for the race itself which will start at 5pm

Both clubs offer regular events and coaching in triathlon disciplines encouraging participation in multi sports. Twice weekly open water swimming is held at Ragley Hall.
