1st. Bredon 28 Evesham 0 2nd. Bredon 21 Evesham 7 Evesham try scorer – Jack Fletcher Evesham Man of the Match – Liam Berry The Under-12s welcomed new recruits Tom Jones and Lance Locke to their ranks for their opening match of the season against local rivals Bredon. The scoreline didn’t reflect the increased physical commitment of the team or the quality of the rugby they played in spells. But it did show how effectively a purposeful and organised home side punished missed tackles and indecision at the breakdown. After conceding 4 tries in the first match, Evesham produced an excellent first half to the second. They mounted sustained pressure on the Bredon line, before defending their own as the half ended scoreless. Liam Berry earned man of the match for his hard tackling. Tom Perry and George Hoare also stood out in the battle for possession, while Zeke Evans made try-saving tackles on the wing. In the second half, Bredon scored two quick tries and threatened to cut loose, but Evesham had the character to respond. Jack Fletcher saved a try with a last ditch tackle, and soon after finished an Evesham attack with a strong run to the corner to score a well-deserved try for the team.
