Cotswold Hills League: Premier Division

Leamington III's latest fixture was a visit to perpetual title challengers, Exhall & Wixford.

The host's opening pair got the innings off to a brisk start, galloping to 95-0 by the end of the 15th over.  Then Jagdeep Kunara took two wickets in two balls and the fight-back began.  Khunara (3-42) and Billy Hallett (5-28) further reduced E&W to 154-6 before some recovery saw the innings close at 206 from 40 overs.

Dan McCarthy (2-33) bowled two steady spells, one at each end of the innings.  Rob Ainscow (18) and James Cowan (47) saw the Leamington reply off to a good start and after they were out, Hallett (32) Manpreet Gill (48)and Tom Mackrill (17)maintained the steady momentum of four runs an over before the loss of three wickets for six runs put the victory at risk. This brought Khunara and Matt Davison together and their sound batting saw Leamington safely home by 3 wickets with 3 overs to spare.  Victory in a match that tested the resolve of the Leamington team.
