The slightly cold, damp weather did not put off crews from 12 Parishes taking part in the first event of this year's Wychavon Parish Games.
The Bell Boating took place on the river Avon in Pershore on Saturday and proved to be really exciting from beginning to end.
After 2 heats, the crews were put into finals depending on their times in the heats.  Because of identical times, the A final took place with 5 boats on the river at the same time.  Fladbury finished as winners, but were only one second ahead of second place Inkberrow, who in turn were one second ahead of Eckington in third.  South Littleton were a further one second behind, followed by Wyre Piddle.
It has to be noted that, although they finished last, the team from Broadway performed really well considering they only had 3 in their crew.
Other Parishes taking part were Bretforton, Wick, Crowle, Bredon, Drakes Broughton and Hill and Moor.
The Men's Five-a-Side takes place at Badsey Rec on Sunday, with the Ladies' Rounders the following Sunday at Pershore High School.
