Another depressing week! The loss of Frankley FC from Division One and the ongoing rain, but we fight on and ticked off another 6 games today.

Congratulations go to Victoria Barnt Green who remain on course to retain the Premier Cup as they reached the final after beating last weeks league heroes Reddtitch United by a 4-1 scoreline. All the goals in the first half of this game as Redditch, playing a 4-5-1 formation, failed to take advantage of their extra man in midfield against Wayne Davis's 4-4-2 set up. It did start well for Redditch though as they went ahead through Jak Albutt who can't stop scoring right now, but the Vic came roaring back to put the game out of sight by half-time. Richard Bishop scored a brace, one a superb curling effort into the top corner, before further strikes from Shaun May (a penalty after Ben Allbutt bought down Ryan Molesworth) and Scott Smith. Vic will face Rubery Oak in the final two weeks tonight, 630pm kick off, with both sides set for a pre cup final dress rehearsal next Sunday in the League such is the quirks of the Fixture Computer! Either way, Vic will enter the game as red hot favourites to win their first silverware of 2014.

In the Kidderminster Hospital Minor Cup, Toby Jug sensibly reversed their fixture to Marlpool Olympic's ground in Cookley to get the game played (Toby are behind on fixtures as it is due to their ongoing success, not that we're complaining) and they came away with a fine 5-3 victory with Paul Wilkes taking the managerial reins for the day. It got off to a bad start though as they found themselves one down after 5 minutes, before JJ Evans set up hot striker Connor Collins for the equaliser on 20. Toby piled on the pressure with Jay Nickless once again very influential from deadballs and right wing surges, Collins and Darryl Foster both being denied. Collins grabbed his second when Dave Price provided the assist, before Nickless's inch perfect delivery was headed home by Evans for a 3-1 half time lead. Collins got his second hat-trick in as many weeks when he slotted home from close range after the Marlpool keeper could only parry a shot, before Matt Wilkes got a fifth after Collins set him up. It looked like a rout was on the cards against the Kidderminster Division 4 outfit, but Toby fell asleep and conceeded two late goals after defensive gaffs, to leave a final scoreline of 5-3. A good win and they move onto the WFA Minor Cup Quarter-Finals next week against Areley Kings Reserves, who are only a place above Marlpool in the Kidderminster Division 4 table. Fingers crossed for a similair performance and result!

League action was played out across the other divisions with 4 games, 1 in each division. In the Prem, the returning Golden Lion Athletic giant Simon Paramore could not stop his side losing 3-2 at home to West Heath United who haven't played much football recently but were as fresh as daisies. Paramore scored a free kick and is confident his side will avoid relegation at seasons end, but they need some wins starting with next weeks home clash with Rubery Social Allstars, another side who have seemingly forgotten what a football looks like!

In Division 1, Belbroughton Athletic warmed up for next weeks cup final with a 2-0 away win at Division 1 strugglers Sporting Grapevine for whom the season seemingly can't end quick enough (especially now that Frankley's demise has cost them 4 points), although they do have a WA Harris Cup Quarter-Final to look forward too. We don't have Belbroughton's goalscoring information but they'll have been pleased to get today's game played as influential new player Kyle Frater has now qualified to play in next weeks final.

Division 2 action and credit to both FC Rednal and Studley Road Social for arranging an alternative pitch (and kick off time) for the match to keep things ticking along. Studley took the game to FCR and on a big pitch, FCR were certainly feeling the effects of limited recent action. That said, Lee Davies opened the scoring for FCR lobbing the legendary goalkeeper Peter Onions before Studley turned things around and went 2-1 up for the half-time break. Timothy Toon got FCR level when the second half commenced after a brilliant solo run down the left flank passing at least four players in succession before beating Onions on his near post. FCR then went 3-2 up through Davies again before the Studley captain (we dont know who it is!) pulled his side level with a fine strike (3-3 if you are still with us). FCR were then awarded an astonishing penalty when a Studley player jumped up and slapped a cross out of play collecting a yellow card for his troubles. Davies who is the division's top goalscorer, despatched the spot kick to complete yet another hat-trick. It all got too much for Studley's Tom Murphy who got sent off after one late challenge too many. The game turned a bit scrappy but Chris Gee gave FCR daylight when he got a fifth after reacting quickest inside the box to prod home, this left a final scoreline of 5-3 to FC Rednal and 3 precious promotion points.

In Division 3, two sides desperate for football were Arrow Valley and Hizza United Seconds so this game was moved to Redhill School 3G pitch in Stourbridge and both sides got precious 90 minutes under their belts. Hizza won the game 3-1 thanks to Kyle Watson, Tom Higgins and Jack Latham. John Walker got the Arrow goal. Arrow are limbering up for their Rose Bowl semi-final with Toby Jug on which their seson hinges, whilst Hizza have motored up the league table in recent weeks and with 8 games left, they could yet sneak into the top three as they have really picked up in recent games they've played (admittedly at the back end of 2013!).

Next week sees a domination of league fixtures, a WFA Cup Quarter-Final, a 'dead rubber' LMS Shield game which should get Rubery Athletic going again after a sustained weather related absence from football and of course the first League Cup Final of the new season; Hare and Hounds v Belbroughton Athletic in the MG Sportswear Division 1 Cup kicks off at 630pm at Bromsgrove Sporting FC and we hope as many of you readers will come down to the game to support the occassion. Admission is only £2 for Adults (£1 for Children) and we'll have the refreshment hut open too. So please do consider coming down next Sunday night and see what will be a good game of football.

We also wish Toby Jug well in next weeks WFA cup game, a semi final place and a continuation of the flying flag beckons and we'll report on all the games next MONDAY (change of day due to the cup final where all our reporters will be), although it is inevitable several games will once again be frustratingly waterlogged off - Let's hope the final survives at least!
