George Martin nets TWELVE goals!

A remarkable individual scoring feat from George Martin saw him net twelve goals in the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League at the weekend.

In the Saturday Division he scored seven times for Arrow 2000 who thrashed Malvern Hills 13-0, then the following day he added another five as his Sunday side Heenans crushed Callow End 10-0 in the Premier Division. Martin Newman also found the net four times in the Arrow score line and another hot-shot, Tom Hobbs, smashed five goals for WCT Raiders who won 9-4 at VBL Sports, Mark Wilks bagging two for VBL. The University of Worcester got their season off to a winning start, Macloud Mayo notching a double in their 5-0 victory over Malvern Vale.

In the Sunday Division One there were two goals each for Damon Groves of The Bell @ Pensax who beat CMB Sports 4-0 to go top of the table, Tyler Attwood as Hallow won 4-3 against Worcester Lynx and Chris White in Kempsey’s 5-2 success at Goodrest Juniors.

Division 2 leaders Inter Express were held to a 4-4 draw by West Midland, Ian Farney and Luke Arnold both bagging a brace for Express. Meanwhile Dan Monk cracked a hat-trick as the UOW won 4-1 at Malvern Rangers and there was a brace each for Steve Cahill and John Edwards in the Half Way House’s 5-1 victory at St Johns. Wilks scored twice for VBL Sports who won 4-2 at Worcester Raiders.

Brewers Athletic made it four wins out of four at the top of Division 3, Ben Harborne bagging two in their 3-1 defeat of Hangover. James Lush found the net five times as Falcons thumped Colwall Village 10-1 and Greg Lord fired a treble for Hylton Road Rovers who hammered Alumni 7-1.

Pillar of Salt Korono are the new leaders of Division 4, Rob Giles grabbing the only goal of their match at Droitwich RBL. James Gordon netted five times and Andy Harvey added a double for Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves who put nine past WCT Youth Raiders without reply. Blackpole Sports recorded their first win of the season, Lee Collins scoring four times in their 6-3 success at The Bell @ St Johns. George Haywood bagged two for Clifton Rovers who beat previous leaders Old Vigornians 3-1.

In Division 5 a single strike from Mark Edwards secured three points for GDL Athletic A against Hallow Reserves and Shane Abel grabbed both goals for Sport Dysons, 2-1 winners over Leigh & Bransford Badgers.
