The teams turned out today to blast away the summer break cobwebs in preparation for the coming league campaign.

The game was played against the combined teams of Standard and Cov Tech over 4 periods of 20 minutes.

The game started well with some early possession and decent scrums and line outs, one of which led to the first of three Keresley tries, by new player Tom Baggott, after only 9 minutes.

There was some good play by both teams in the second period, during which another successful try and conversion by Justin Jewkes for The Ks before the teams had a bit of shake up.

After an unfortunate fumble which conceded a scrum, Cov Tech turned the play and scored their first try, but the conversion was wide of the posts.

Just before the second period drew to a close, the Ks won a decisive line out and drove from 20yrds to allow Joel Pickering to the Ks score final try of the game, followed by another successful conversion by Justin Jewkes. Before the end of the third 20 minutes, Cov Tech caught the Ks unaware with the defence open and a great individual effort score a try right between the posts which was easily converted.

The forth period saw a few changes on both sides and some fairly well executed moves until a line out from a Cov Tech clearance led to them turning the play and scoring the final try and conversion of the game. The Ks tried valiantly to claw back the final result, but couldn't gain enough of the pitch in the last 5 minutes.

All three teams played well and the play today bodes well for the start of the league game in September.

The Ks play another trial game next week at home to Burbage, kick off at 3.
