Harry Charles wins individual Silver and team Bronze at Junior European Showjumping Championships


Harry the 16 year old son of London 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Peter Charles, from Alton in Hampshire clinched silver medal with his father Peter’s 10 year-old chestnut gelding Vivaldi Du Dom at the Junior European Championships in Wiener Neustadt, Austria in August.


Sitting in 7th position after the 1st round of the Individuals he put in a phenomenal performance to climb up into the Silver medal position behind French rider Camille Conde Ferreira who took Gold in the final line up.


‘Unbelievable day I’m extremely proud of Harry winning silver individual medal this week in Austria he really has done his family, team and country proud a big thank you to all our sponsors and support team behind the scenes we really couldn't do it without them.’ said Peter.


This achievement added to Harry's tally of medals following the teams success on Friday when they stepped onto the podium to take Team Bronze. The British team consisted of Harry Charles, Millie Allen, Robert Murphy and Faye Adams.


Speaking about his individual silver medal win a delighted Harry said, ‘That was the best win of my career so far, a huge achievement and one that I’ve always wanted


Competing against the best (riders) from Europe and being able to beat them puts you in a good position and it fill you with confidence and I’ve still got two years remaining in that category.’


The teams are supported by the UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Programme.
