Owch! That frost beat all the weather model and predicting tools at our disposal and decimated the BDFL programme with only FOUR games being played, 3 of which were leagues ones and one an outside cup! All other local leagues struggled too, except Kidderminster who only lost 11 of their games which was a fine effort by their groundstaff.

In the Premier Division, Bartley Green Illey Sunday showed off their new signings Josh Moore, Luke Ellett and Michael Teji as they gave Rubery Athletic a lesson in finishing to run away 9-0 winners. Hat-tricks for star front men Connor Collins and Dan Lawrence (latter amazingly playing just hours after his partner gave birth!), whilst the phonebox Alex Dugmore, Chris Hickey and Brad Bullimore got one each. Collins and Lawrence also missed penalties as Rubery were bossed from start to finish by a strong BGIS side. Rubery's man of the match in these tough times for a long established club was Andy Court.

In Division One, one of the games guaranteed to go ahead was Quinton Athletic v FC Highgate United on the Four Dwellings 4G pitch. A close game ensued which FCH nudged 4-3. Oli Pugh's assist set up Tom Windsor-Price to rifle home the opener before Quinton equalised on the stroke of half-time as Keil Sumnall crashed the ball in the net. In the second half, the game opened up to see yet more goals. FCH took control of proceedings from here on in, Kyle Morrison scoring a good team goal and Connor Wilson's impressive near goal a game ratio continued as the visitors went 3-1 up. But football is a funny old game and when it looked like FCH would see the game out comfortably, Quinton came roaring back to score two to get the game level at 3-3 with Sumnall getting his second and 30th birthday boy Matt Carter the other. It was left to the super star striker Ben Markall to net the winner as he showed the Quinton backline a clear pair of heels to race clear and give his side the points to yet more joyous celebrations on the FCH sidelines. A great game, Quinton will be gutted to have thrown it away as their defensive woes continue, Darryl Foster's return to the heart of the defence seemingly needed sooner rather than later.

In Division Two, Hizza United's good run of form continued as they beat Callowbrook Green 5-0. Callowbrook were the better team in the opening 20 minutes until a nasty bounce and goalkeeping error gave Hizza the lead and momentum, which they had increased to three by half-time with two further second half goals. Hizza's lucky men to find the net today were Ash Parker (2), Martin Young, Scott Young and Jake Evans.

Congratulations to Red Lion who are safely through to the semi-finals of the WFA Junior Cup after a 7-0 win over fellow BDFL side Spa Athletic. Red Lion were favourites entering the match and when Spa's Kev 'Ginge' Owens was sent off in the first half for two cautions of dissent and simulation, the writing was on the wall as Red Lion took advantage of the wide spaces on the 3G to tire Spa out quite quickly. Ellis Kalach led the way with a hat-trick whilst Kingsley Smith, Ant Mcnally, Josh Green and who else but The Bear, Daniel Bearcroft, grabbed one each. Red Lion will have their eye on next week's results with an eye to possible semi-final opponents.

And that's that for this week - Not alot to report generally! Next week's fixtures are on the relevant social media portals/websites. Good luck to all teams in the County Cup especially Black Horse in their semi-final with potential Worcester League Premier Division champions Callow End. Winyates and Hizza United have a Division 2 derby meeting, whilst D2 leaders Sporting Club Redditch go to Premier Division Millfield Rovers hoping to cause a WA Harris Cup upset. Those are just a select choice of a number of decent games in the BDFL next Sunday!
