Schreiber excited about facing former team-mates

Recent Worcester Wolves signing Andreas Schreiber is looking forward to facing former colleagues when his new team takes on Plymouth Raiders this Friday (tip off 7.30pm) at the University of Worcester Arena.

Last year Schreiber was a major force at the Raiders, averaging thirteen points and nine rebounds each outing. However, once Jay Marriott took over the coaching reins at the club, just before the start of this season, Schreiber found his court time severely curtailed.

A consequent drop in his statistics to just six points and three rebounds were the precursor to his release by the Devon-based outfit, only a few weeks into the new campaign.

Now a prominent member of Wolves’ coach Paul James’ rotation, Schreiber, though excited about playing his old club, does not want to lose focus from his game, saying: “I’m excited about Friday. Obviously the match will be a little bit personal, but you always want to keep personal feelings to a minimum.

“They’re a good bunch there and they have some great players such as Shane Walker who I count as one of my better friends. We’re going to have to push hard to win, but we’ll get it done.”

Paul James echoes the caution of Schreiber, saying: “Plymouth are a good side, but we will have a solid week of practice and look to keep the winning momentum going. We look forward to defending our unbeaten record in front of another big crowd at the University Arena.”

Straight after Friday’s game, the Wolves will turn their attention to another stiff challenge, with a trip to Leicester Riders taking place on Saturday, for the right to progress to the semi-finals of the BBL Cup.
