Worcestershire County League

Summary of results Saturday 20th June 2015

After last week’s inactivity for most, a mixed day of storms and calculators!

In Division One 1st XIs, leaders Pershore opened up an imposing lead of 42 points after they beat the new bottom placed side, Burghill, thanks to 5-36 from Matt Brace and neither of the next two sides managed a win as the reduced overs calculator cost Nomads and Droitwich respectively.

Nomads were unable to match the enhanced target that resulted after Bromyard racked up 283 including 99 from Dinush Fernando, despite the 90 scored by Innocent Kaia and similarly, Droitwich were powerless to prevent Max Young’s 91 counting for nought as Pedmore won the reduced chase to climb off the foot of the table at last.

Hagley beat Redditch in a run chase and are now joint second with Nomads, well behind Pershore. Bewdley are 4th after they just managed to hold off a determined effort from Oldswinford to chase a reduced target, Droitwich are 5th and then come Colwall, who were unable to stop Belbroughton triumphing in a reduced run chase.

Next week, Pershore visit Bewdley who may be the last side who can interrupt their perfect winning run and Nomads are at home to Burghill, whilst Hagley go to Droitwich.

In Division Two 1st XIs, leaders Bredon now have a 15 points lead after they won at home to Wormelow and Dominies were beaten by Feckenham.
