Kenilworth Girls Tag Team headed off to Shipston Rugby Club for the West Midlands Girls Tag league tournament.  With just enough players to field a team and no substitutes it was going to be a tough day.

The sunny start belied the cold wind that sees to whip across at Shipston.

The girls had a reasonable draw for their first round and started off against Kings Norton.  Kenilworth’s first game is started with a narrow 5-4 win, quickly followed by 9-1 win over Shipston C.  They went on to play the winners of the other pools. Beating Old Laurentians Reds by 9-1 they showed some great teamwork.

Kenilworth Girls were through to the final against Evesham, a very good, well drilled team.  Some great play by both teams, with the tries going from one to other they finished at half time 5-4 down.

Kenilworth came out fighting, everyone pulling their weight and playing as a real team but in the end losing narrowly 8-6.  A fantastic effort by everyone on a bitterly cold day with no substitutes and a very well deserved second place out of 14.
