Following a successful inaugural week, the ladies at Kenilworth Ladies Rugby Football Club have experienced record numbers of women and girls expressing interest in being a part of the club. This was evident by the turnout at this week’s training session where 22 people were in attendance. Of the 22, 6 of these had never played rugby before and 4 players were returning to the game after a long absence.

This proves that Kenilworth Ladies are already achieving what they set out to achieve at the start which is to introduce new people to the game as well as get U18s involved in the contact game. The wealth of experience in the coaching team allows for new players to learn and develop at their own pace whilst enjoying the challenge of learning a new sport. The friendly environment also provides new players with a safe and comfortable environment where they can meet new people and feel like part of a team from the start. One of the new players Sarah Katy-Davies said ‘I was made to feel very welcome and I felt like I have been part of the team for much longer. I will certainly be returning next week and I look forward to the first game of the season’

This week, the squad also secured a sponsorship deal with Andrew Whiting Wealth Consultancy who also sponsors the Men’s First XV side. The Ladies are elated by this news and the Skipper; Sarah Munday expressed her gratitude to both the club and Whiting. ‘I can not believe how great this is going; we started out with a small vision which seems to have now snowballed in an amazing way. This sponsorship deal means a great deal to myself and the ladies, and it means that come the start of the season, we will be looking the part when we run out for our very first fixture’ said Munday.
