Kings lost this game due to poor second half option taking in an otherwise entertaining contest.

Kings defended the first half in a stiff wind and were able to resist their host’s attempts to score points through stout defending and occasional counter attacks. During the half Ledbury pressurized Kings with long range wind assisted kicks but failed to make any breakthroughs.

Kings eventually fell behind when they conceded a penalty for offside near to their posts after 28 mins and this soon followed just 4 mins later with a similar situation. Kings counter attacked at every opportunity and just on the stroke of half time their valiant efforts were awarded with a penalty for infringing at a ruck which Ben Manners confidently struck through the posts & end the half at Kings Norton 3 pts Ledbury 6 pts.

The 2nd period began in similar vein but with Kings now piling on the pressure and camping in their visitors half. Ledbury put up a stout defence and effectively spoiled any open play by the King’s attack and the few options to break through were wasted by kicking the ball away when it needed to be kept in hand.

Then as the clock ticked down Ledbury broke out of their 22m area and scored a breakaway try to win the game while Kings were denied even a losing bonus point.

Kings continue their league programme when they travel to Manor Park on Saturday.
