A Leamington 4th XI including eight players making their first senior appearance for the Club lost a nail-biting match at Stratford Bards.

Inserted on a typical Bards wicket not conducive to attractive strokeplay, Leamington struggled to set a meaningful target being dismissed for 117 in the 42nd over. Only captain Shaun Williams (21) and Rob Hawkins (34) troubled the scorers to any great extent.
Bards found batting equally troublesome, losing early wickets including two for the impressive Robert Lord. Bards crept towards the total, until 14 year-old debutant Callum Bobath was introduced to the attack. He took 5 for 4 in his six over spell, to leave the match in the balance. Indeed it seemd Leamington had escaped with a tie when Bards last man appeared to have edged a catch behind, but the umpire was not convinced! A wide saw Bards over the line for a one wicket victory.
Despite defeat Leamington can be prod of the way they performed particularly the four players under 16 who all made telling contributions.
