Premier Division, Saturday, 4th. June, 2016

Leamington III (252 – 7)) beat Bidford on Avon (99) by 153 runs

Batting first on a wicket that required progress to be made carefully, Tom Mackrill (95) and Rob Ainscow (27) began the Leamington innings cautiously.

By the drinks interval (23rd over) the score had reached 87-1.  Shortly afterwards Wayne Killian (26) perished trying to accelerate the pace.

The fall of the third wicket at 134 (32nd. over) brought Sam Forster (58) to the wicket to join Mackrill in scampering and bludgeoning the run rate up towards six and over and amid a flurry of wickets the innings closed at 252-7.

Faced with a sizeable total, but helped by Leamington’s inability to bowl straight, Bidford made good progress to reach 63-1 in 13 overs.  At this point Killian (4-12) joined the attack and took a wicket in his first over, and from there on he and fellow slow left armer Charlie Curtis (5-20) worked their way steadily through the batting and the innings subsided to close at 99.

Leamington 24 pts. Bidford 3 pts.
