You know that the gods are smiling on you when your team’s first three batsmen are each run out in unnecessary circumstances and you still go on to a comfortable win.  The gods certainly smiled on Leamington III during their match at Shipston.  Set a target of 225 Leamington got off to a good start before the first of the run-outs ended the opening partnership at 55.  A second run-out at 66 brought Tom Davison (70 not out) to the wicket.  Fleet of foot and nimble of brain, Davison avoided the fate of his predecessors and in partnerships with Liam Killian (61) and Billy Hallett (38) steered his side to victory with over 4 overs and four wickets to spare.  Earlier Dan McCarthy (3-34) had led the Leamington bowlers in restricting Shipston to 225 with only Morris (63) and Betteridge (50) making significant contributions.  21 points against strong opponents make a valuable contribution in Leamington’s efforts to preserve their Premier status.
